The Taxi Academy Instructors
As the founder and President of The Taxi Academy, Mr. Williams developed the curriculum and is a regular lecturer to both new and current drivers. As the former owner and President of two career colleges in Ontario, Mr. Williams has trained hundreds of adult learners as they prepare for new careers. As a former multi-unit owner/operator for McDonald’s Restaurants, Mr. Williams developed a passion for training and customer service that he has incorporated into the Taxi Academy material. Mr. Williams delivers lectures in decision making, ethics, common law and by-laws, customer service and government legislation impacting the taxi industry. Mr. Williams was a former taxi driver in Hamilton in 1982. And is an accredited Defensive Driver Instructor, certified by the Ontario Safety League.
Vince joined the Taxi Academy in 2013 and has been a regular instructor in areas such as communication, customer service, gaining voluntary compliance, ethics and decision making, and professional driving. Vince brings to the classroom an understanding of adult learners from many years as a trainer in career services and career development as well as a coach in amateur and youth basketball. Vince was formerly the Manager of Licensing and Enforcement for the City of Hamilton with responsibilities that included development of by-laws and compliance strategies for the taxi and limousine industry, tow truck sector, noise, and sign by-laws to name a few. Vince is a certified trainer of all defensive driving courses for the Ontario Safety League/Canada Safety Council (2013) and has been certified as a trainer by Q-Straints to deliver accessible training to the transit and taxi sectors in use of restraints and tie downs. Vince is involved in curriculum development and advisory services to municipalities in the creation or modification of by-laws.
Steve Jones has been an instructor with the Taxi Academy since 2008 teaching in areas of taxi operations, safety, security, robbery prevention, accessibility and route planning. As a former dispatcher and a taxi driver in excess of 30 years Steve is well qualified to deliver training to new and existing drivers in the taxi industry. In 2013 Steve received Accessibility training from the City of Toronto and received his accessible taxi plate.
